Jia- pa- lang; Mishmash; Hodgepodge; Word Salad

Disappointing surprises and surprising disappointments.

It's good to have loud and provocative people around. They're the people who call us quiet ones out on our issues. Otherwise, we would just keep all our rationalizations, our justifications, and our intellectually-crafted, morally-gray world to ourselves. Smug superiority is hardest to change when it's covered with layers of civility and humility.

"Humility is a strong sign of spiritual maturity, and thus also a good place for pride to take root." -Something C.S. Lewis said somewhere in one of his books, with some other words.

It seems to me that we are friends rather than brothers. With brothers there is always an unspoken, tacit rivalry. With brothers, insult and injury are always inseparable, inexplicably impermanent on one level but long-lasting on another. I'm certain that that actually meant something logical.
