Hits and Misses, Flight and Fancy

I had a really great time this weekend, meeting up with all you guys! Tea with Puay Lin was a little awkward at first, given the huge gap of time in which we had not spoken; but as things carried on I got to have a great catching-up session with her. Then I went down to lower/upper Bukit Timah Road to have dinner with Cherie and Wanyi, which was also great (although I think LK must be held in acclaim for drinks, not its food..)!

The next day, I went to play lan and eat dinner with Chris, Aaron, and Aaron's ugly green beanie.
The four of us have not met up together for the longest time though. I'd forgotten how fun UT2K4 could be. Haha.

Finally, I met Mark and Jevon on Sunday, and well... It looks like Mickey is going to be a real Player sometime soon.... Ahaha.. If you're reading this, thanks for the present which I asked for so shamelessly =P

I guess one thing I realized about myself is that I could put more effort into my choice of gifts... I impulsively bought this book for my mother's birthday because I knew it was the kind of topic she was crazy about... Only when I returned home did it dawn on me that I would probably be doing her a disservice by feeding this particular craze of her... I'll try to go down to MPH to get a refund and buy her 'The 5 Love Languages' instead, which is a brilliantly written and inspired book by Gary Chapman!

Sorry to Wanyi as well, if you're reading this! I'm sorry I bought you figs! I was running late and there was only one packet of blueberries left, and the only other fruit that seemed cool was figs... Ack. Haha... But now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever picked you a single present that you liked =( Haha... expect an astoundingly delightful present soon!



Thanks for coming even though you were really tired with your work... It wasn't my intention to pester you into coming, though you seemed quite irritated so I think that's what you might think... I was aware that you needed time to relax and I was fine with not meeting up, it's just that I had the afterthought that you might be too tired to make a trip to town, but perhaps would like to meet up if it was somewhere convenient... Apologies!

If all goes well, I'll have gotten to meet just about all my friends over the course of this week, including some people I haven't met in years. Haha.. the times we'll get to spend together will, i think, continue to be short in length for a really long time... They'll just have to be sweeter meetings to compensate =/

I finally got to go for the sushi buffet that I've been craving for so long. I went with my family to celebrate my birthday (early), and the first thing I have to say is that games do not exaggerate when they portray the inner cityscape with a gloomy, sick atmosphere. Brrr.

Sashimi... Wasabi... Tempura... Unagi... Mmm...

Every other dish there sucked, though. Ah well. I suppose we all had a good enough time.

Mmm.. My last real update was one month ago or so, haha... Nothing particularly life-changing has happened since then, but I think there definitely have been good happenings...

The past month of reconnecting with Shift1 was pretty good, and I guess we never really moved that far away in the first place. I've played some Dota with them and our new PC, Yapseh. Yap Seh is pretty good, so it's more fun these days, but david is getting less enthusiastic and more hooked to his Wow. Haha. There was also a family day and a sports day within the month... Kind of nonsensical but everyone enjoyed themselves at both events! I think such things are important to foster a sense of togetherness amongst such a large group...

NDP appreciation day was worth the trip. Only 3 ppl (I, HG, ACooi) attended from G Shift 1, but there was good food and drinks! I tried to play around with Mah seh abit by matching drinks with him.... And I died miserably with a bloated stomach and subsequent intoxication. Ooi drank way past the limit... Haha still the cool cat had a few of his wits left about him. Always one step ahead, ooi!

I went with mark and kader to watch ratatouille (RT). Ownage. What kind of brilliant and unique animators and concept- thinkers did it take to come up with such lively and charming visuals? It was really an amazing experience, especially the last part when Anton Ego tried the RT.

Over the last weekend, something really incredible happened. I met Marcus Heng in Chompang camp and had a great chat with him! I also saw Weijie there too. He's a driver of assorted vehicles over there. The next night, I got a call from Puay Lin and we decided to meet up this month. I haven't talked to her in ages! Haha... For these things and a number of other reasons, I feel that God really blessed me immensely that weekend...

I attended the Healing Service at BRMC on 25 August Saturday. I guess what happened there left me with some mixed feelings, and I must remember to write them down sometime...

Aaron is in Taurus Company now. Haha. Sucker has no hair...

Mark is going overseas to study after he ORDS. I guess I used to be unhappy over such things but I guess I just have to accept that we're going to go our separate ways soon.. It could be anywhere.

What about my own future? For now, I'm just going to start picking up driving and learning more about financial matters. But after that? I want to be more sure by the time I ORD, so that's five more months...

my birthday is next week!
